The standards we hold ourselves to when researching, writing, reviewing and correcting articles.

Originality

All content on Zfieriz is written specifically for Zfieriz. We do not reproduce text from other publications, press materials, encyclopaedias, or any other source. Where a specific finding, figure, or claim originates elsewhere, it is described in our own words and attributed to its origin in the body of the article.

Direct quotation is used sparingly and always marked as quotation with clear attribution. We do not present paraphrased source material as though it were our own analysis, and we do not fabricate quotations.

Sourcing and verification

We prefer primary sources: peer-reviewed papers, preprints assessed on their merits, regulatory filings, standards documents, technical specifications, and official statements. Secondary reporting is used to locate primary material, not as evidence in itself.

Numbers are checked against their original source. Where a figure is an estimate, a modelled projection, or a range, we say so rather than presenting it as a measurement. Where credible experts disagree, we describe the disagreement instead of picking a side for narrative convenience.

Uncertainty

Precision about confidence is a core part of our editing. We distinguish explicitly between four categories: results that have been independently replicated, results demonstrated once, engineering that is plausible but undemonstrated, and speculation. An article that cannot make that distinction for its central claim is not ready to publish.

Review before publication

  • A second editor reviews every article before it is published.
  • Technical claims are traced back to a source during review.
  • Headlines must be supported by the article body, not by its most dramatic sentence.
  • Images are labelled accurately; illustrative artwork is described as such in captions.

Use of artificial intelligence

Editorial judgement, research, structure and argument on Zfieriz are human work. Software tools may be used for routine tasks such as spelling and grammar checking or locating published material, in the same way a search engine or a word processor is used. No article is published as unedited machine output, and every claim in every article is verified by an editor against a source regardless of how the draft was prepared.

Corrections and updates

When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and visibly. Factual corrections are noted at the foot of the affected article with the date and a description of what changed. Minor typographic fixes are made without a note. Articles that are updated to reflect later developments carry a revised date.

To report an error, email corrections@zfieriz.com with the article title and, if possible, the source that contradicts us. Correction reports are prioritised above all other correspondence.

Independence from advertising

Advertising is served by third-party networks and is not selected by our editorial desks. Advertisers receive no advance notice of coverage, no right of review, and no influence over what we publish or how we frame it. We do not remove or soften editorial content in response to advertiser pressure.

Should we ever publish sponsored or affiliate content, it will be clearly labelled at the top of the page, produced separately from editorial, and excluded from our editorial sections.

Conflicts of interest

Contributors disclose any financial interest, employment relationship, or personal connection relevant to a subject they cover, and are reassigned where a conflict cannot be adequately disclosed.

Right of reply

Organisations or individuals described critically in our reporting may respond. We publish substantive responses alongside the original article where the response addresses a factual matter.
